Veteran Cybersecurity Entrepreneur Joins as Chief Security Officer
DUBLIN and ATLANTA – June 06, 2017 – Waratek, the virtualization-based application security company, has completed a strategic restructuring to help position the company for rapid scaling. Waratek Holdings Limited has been created as the holding company for two operating companies that will serve customers on a global basis: Waratek Inc. for the Americas and Asia, and Waratek Ltd for EMEA. This new structure will create the infrastructure needed to streamline and scale operations globally.
As part of the restructuring, Brian Maccaba, formerly CEO, will become Executive Chair; and John K. Adams, formerly Senior Vice President, will become Chief Executive Officer of Waratek Holdings Limited.
To support Waratek’s strategic growth plans, the company also announced that Chris Rouland, a 25-year veteran of the InfoSec industry, has joined the company as Chief Security Officer, a newly created position. Rouland has founded several companies that provide cybersecurity to Fortune 500 corporations and government agencies. Rouland’s most recent company, Bastille Networks, is the only company focused exclusively on providing intrusion detection and vulnerability assessment for the Internet of Things (IoT).
In 2008, Rouland founded Endgame, a leader in cybersecurity and defense for the government sector, which was acquired in 2017 by Accenture. Prior to founding Endgame, he served as Chief Technology Officer at Internet Security Systems Inc. (ISS) which was purchased by IBM Corp. in 2006.
“Since we launched our revolutionary application security product, we have built a platform that solves seemingly unsolvable cybersecurity problems,” notes Maccaba. “Our product is proven to protect against the most common and complex attacks to web applications while providing cost / time saving benefits like no false positives or instant virtual patching that are still hard to imagine. Now we are ready to scale.”
The company’s Executive Directors include Maccaba and Adams, along with Founder and Chief Technology Officer John Matthew Holt, and Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer James E. Lee. Outside Directors include Michael An, Managing Director of Perle Ventures; David Randall, retired executive; and James Casper, financial tech entrepreneur.
“This strategic initiative creates the corporate structure and the leadership team needed to rapidly grow the business and capitalize on the tremendous customer interest in our approach to application security,” commented Adams. “John Matthew and his team have built a great product that does the unusual in the technology world: it works as advertised.”
Waratek’s initial market focus is in regulated companies, especially the financial services and healthcare sectors. The company has multiple clients in production and is preparing to seek a additional funding to scale the company.
