Brían Maccaba
Chief Executive Officer
Brían Maccaba, Waratek CEO, brings more than twenty five years’ experience to the role. A serial entrepreneur, Brían has founded five technology companies during this period. He is renowned for his ability to spot disruptive technologies and was one of the first CEOs to recognise the potential of the Internet for revolutionising the financial services industry. He led his former company, Cognotec, to develop AutoDeal , a pioneering Web-based foreign exchange trading platform that was adopted by more than sixty banks worldwide. London Institutional Investor magazine named Brían Maccaba among the top thirty individuals in Europe and Asia who were harnessing the Internet to transform the financial services industry.
John Matthew Holt
Founder, Chief Technology Officer
John Matthew Holt is the driving force behind Waratek’s research and development of distributed computing and virtualisation technology. He pioneered the development of Waratek’s Redundant Array of Independent Servers (RAIS) technology, for which Waratek holds 27 international patents, to date.
After reaching a crucial point in his research, John Matthew deferred taking up his awarded place at the University of New South Wales Faculty of Engineering, Sydney, Australia and co-founded Waratek with his father, John Holt, to commercialise his extensive research into array computing. After holding the position of CEO from 2007 – 2010, John Matthew Holt took on the role of CTO to advance the development of Waratek’s new memory architecture for cluster computing, which makes it possible to aggregate disparate servers into a single virtual machine.

Founder, Chief Operating Officer
John co-founded Waratek with his son, John Mathew, to commercialise his son’s research into what is now called RAIS virtualisation. Before Waratek, John’s career spanned fifteen years in operational management across diverse industry environments including manufacturing, home improvements and human services, and twelve years in business academics. Awarded First Class Honours in his BSc (Psych) Hons degree in cross-cultural psychology, John won a Commonwealth Scholarship to read for a PhD at the Australian Graduate School of Management, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. Here he completed his thesis investigating Organisational Management Practices and Organisational Culture in 1997. In 2008, John was instrumental in relocating the company from Australia to Ireland to improve access to international markets. John works with the executive management and board in building the management team necessary to maximise the commercial potential of RAIS in international markets.
Dennis Szerszen
Chief Marketing Officer
Dennis is a 30-year veteran of the IT market. He began his career at IBM, holding strategy leadership roles in systems management and information security products. He was instrumental in laying the groundwork that led to IBM's acquisition of Tivoli Systems. After IBM, Dennis served as a market analyst where he had the opportunity to work with a broad range of startups including SecureWave. After SecureWave was acquired by Lumension Security, he served as their Sr VP of Marketing, working to consolidate their marketing efforts under a new brand, before again returning to independent practice in 2008. He joined Waratek in 2010.
Vincent Liu
Chief Architect
Vincent joined Waratek in early 2004, joining John Matthew as a founding architect of RAIS technology. A consummate scholar Vincent has a Diploma with Merit in Electronics, Communications and Computer Engineering from Singapore Polytechnic, and is a Chungco Technology Prize recipient for his academic achievements. He is also a recipient of the Golden Jubilee Scholarship from the University of New South Wales, Australia, where he earned his BSc (Hons 1) degree in Computer Science. Serving in the position of Chief Architect, Vincent leads with John Matthew the design and development of RAIS products.
